What changed: the current developer position
The pinned developer post corrects earlier community communication. BULKHEAD says past alpha or beta sessions working on Linux were not a support commitment. A screenshot of an old Discord reply is therefore weaker evidence than this explicit correction.
This is a change from the older guide’s “not a priority” description: there is now stated Proton compatibility work, but not confirmed support or an announced delivery date.
Linux, Proton and Steam Deck are different questions

Steam Deck adds its own hardware, controls, display and SteamOS environment. Windows minimum requirements cannot certify that combination. A player report should name the game build, Proton version, hardware, anti-cheat result and whether online play actually completed.
Anti-cheat and firmware
The Steam store now names Elytra, not Easy Anti-Cheat. The official security policy currently requires neither Secure Boot nor TPM for online play. Neither statement proves Linux compatibility. Do not disable anti-cheat or change firmware based on a promised workaround.
Before purchasing for Linux or Steam Deck
Use the current Steam page and the developer’s pinned Linux thread. If you already purchased expecting Linux compatibility, the developer directs affected buyers toward a refund; eligibility and processing are controlled by Steam, not this fan site. Do not treat a purchase as a way to reserve guaranteed future support.
What would change this answer
A newer explicit developer compatibility statement, a current Steam Deck classification, or a reproducible public-build test would justify an update. No installation tutorial is published here without that evidence. The requirements guide covers the supported Windows specifications.
