The current developer answer

In a Steam discussion marked with a developer answer, the WARDOGS team says Linux is not a priority for the moment but could find its way into the development roadmap after more pressing work is addressed.

That is neither a promise of Linux support nor a statement that it will never happen. It is a dated pre-release priority answer.

Why Proton cannot be assumed

Steam identifies WARDOGS as using kernel-level Easy Anti-Cheat. Anti-cheat configuration is game-specific, and a technology’s general capabilities do not establish that a particular title will run through Proton.

A useful compatibility claim requires a public game build, a named version, an official support statement or repeatable test, and a clear description of the environment. None of those should be replaced by trailer footage or another game’s behavior.

Steam Deck needs its own verification

Steam Deck combines Linux-based SteamOS, specific hardware, and Valve’s compatibility review. A PC specification alone cannot answer the Deck question. Wait for an official compatibility label, developer statement, or public-build testing that can be repeated after patches.

What will change this page

This status should be updated when the developer publishes a platform roadmap, Steam assigns a Deck compatibility result, or a public Early Access build provides repeatable Linux and Proton evidence. Until then, the page remains an answer about current priority, not a compatibility tutorial.
